2006.11.11 - Snow at the Pass
< Back to Currently

The Shadow Lady and I went on a drive up into Snoqualmie Pass, mostly to take a break.  We were both working on a weekend, and decided to head out to take a more definite break.  We decided that since we were already at the Falls, we'd head on up to the Family Pancake House.  Have I ever mentioned I really like that place?  :-)

On the way up, in the waning light, we noticed the snowline on the Cascades...

Before too long, the rain slowly changed to snow... and not long after that, we noticed places where the snow was accumulating...

The snow was starting to fall pretty good just as we got to Summit.  Its always soothing when the snow falls all around you... I guess its a Maine thing.

Inside the Family Pancake House, they have some of their Christmas Decorations up... the holidays come early up in the Pass.

As we were leaving, a local news crew from KOMO was up there, asking folks how they liked the snow.  For people in Seattle and the Puget Sound, snow is a BIG deal.

KOMO's Joe Furia enjoys getting out in the thick of things... sort of like the Weather Channel's Jim Cantori.

In the time it took us to eat, about an inch fell...  it was really picking up as we were heading to the car.  It was pretty nice!

Thirty Degrees... Not too cold, and there's wasn't a lot of wind... it was a nice night!

The snow had accumulated on Gar, and was coming down pretty good.

Driving down from the pass, the snow was awesome!!!  Its so fun to drive, watching the snow sweep in on you like that...

As we headed down the slopes, the snow quickly faded...

Before too long, it was mostly rain.  There was a light rain pretty much all the way home, but it didn't dampen the fun we had had up in the snow.
