For the past 6 years (wow... I just realized that it's been for that
long!), I've had partial-season ticket to Safeco Field. I've
gotten a 16-game pack of tickets each season I've worked here in the
Pacific Northwest... and each season, I've gotten tickets in the same
place. Some seasons (like this one), I get additional tickets
someplace else, but the 16-game pack has always been in the same place.
The hosts at Safeco know me there by name... its nice. But this
year, its been a very sunny summer, and more times than not, it was TOO
sunny for our liking (I do live in the Pacific Northwest for a reason,
after all), so I've been kicking around the idea of sitting someplace
else. Since its not very crowded for most of the games, the Shadow
Lady and I have been looking around the park, and I think we found the
spot.

This is where my seats have been. Section 247 - Terrace Club,
outfield. They've been great. I like the view of the
whole field, I like the area - the seats are nicer, and padded, and
a bit larger... all good. You can run a tab, and they have
people who come take your orders... all nice - it lets you keep
focused on the game.
Normally, the view is awesome... but this year, there's been LOTS of
days where the seats have been in the sun, and I've gotten sunburned
a couple of times... not the funnest thing.
|
So, here we are, testing out the new seats... PermaShade... they're
towards the back of the new section, so they're under the Suite
level ledge... the Sun won't shine there.

 |
 |
The view is from about the same distance, but it feels closer...
probably from the angle of the sun.
|
Its also right behind a couple of TV screens set up on the Terrace
Club level... great for instant replays, and better views and the
like.
|
 |
 |
One thing we really liked was the view of the manual scoreboard, for
the tradition of it all, and the away board, which shows the scores
of all the other games... the angle is very difficult from the old
seats.
We can see the jumbotron, and the outfield... and the view of the
city should be pretty spectacular! Its also on the same side
as where we park, so that'll be nice, too... we're already looking
forward to next year, and the first season with the new seats.
|
Oh... the game? The Texas Rangers were in town. The M's
had won the first two games of the series, but lost this game, 2-4.
Felix didn't look very sharp at all.
We were much more thrilled with the seats... this season, sadly
enough, is pretty much over... The M's are in last place, 14 games
down, and 6 games below 500... statistically, they can still make it
to the post season, but realistically, they're eliminated already.
Next year is a new season, and we'll likely have a new view to go
with it.
