I went to a meeting for Prison Fellowship with the Shadow lady and her
family. It was held in the Cedar Park Assembly of God Church,
which is a "Mega Church" in the Northern Seattle Metro Area. It
was an excellent facility, with a VERY large sanctuary... There wasn't a
seat left in the place.
The worship team from the church led us through some songs... they sounded great! Then the President of Prison Fellowship got up, and told us his story, and generally led us through the evening, calling up various local folks to give testimony as to how the organization helped them, or how they've gotten involved, or usually, both. It was amazing to hear how the power of God changed people, and how much Prison Fellowship meant to some people that they've helped. |

Mark Earley, the current President of Prison Fellowship, is an amazing
individual. He was a State Representative in Virginia, and ran for
Governor in a very heated contest. He lost, which ended up being
very good for Prison Fellowship. He'd make a great politician - we need more like him actually - but God obviously had a different plan for him... |

Chuck Colson founded Prison Fellowship, and now serves on its Board.
He gave a commanding message, one that resonated louder than it should
have, it seemed, from his frail frame. Chuck Colson was President Nixon's Advisor, and was one of the folks who went to jail as part of the Watergate Fiasco. He came to Christ in Prison, and it was from that experience that he founded PFM. |
