2006.01.07 - Pacific Science Center

We had planned to go snowshoeing, but it was raining heavily in the mountains, with a high snow level, so we decided to go to the Pacific Science Center instead.

I thought that the Dead Sea Scrolls were in the traveling exhibit, but it was some sort of "Science of Crime" display instead...

I also renewed my membership.

The fountain was playing a Jazzy tune, so we stayed for a while and watched it... the water changes with the music.

Its pretty striking.

We ate in the Seattle Center before heading into the Science Center.  On the way in, we noticed they had one of the Taffy Machines going... they're fun to watch!
I really like the Pacific Science Center... there's quite a bit to see and do that's quite interesting.

I know you're not "supposed" to... but I normally buy a bag of popcorn, and feed it to the ducks.

In the "Science of Crime" display, they had various displays showing the forensic science advancements made over time... one interesting display described the last stage coach heist... significant not only because it was the LAST one... but because it introduced the palm print as viable evidence.  Until that time, only fingerprints were accepted.
We went to an IMAX movie on Dolphins, which had some amazing cinematography, but was a bit too "Greenie" for our taste.

Nice views of the Tropics, though...

The autopsy display was a bit graphic... they showed a video of a real one, played over a mannequin... grotesquely interesting.

As many times as I've looked at the Moon spinning up above the pavilion, I've never noticed that they have the Apollo Landing sites marked.

Of course, on the way out, the Needle beckoned me to take a picture, and I obliged.
