The Year that was...  2006

2006 was a good year... Started off with Flooding, of course - it is the PNW, after all.  I got the Shadow Lady to go to a Truck Show!  I got ENGAGED to a great girl, and we went on a  Missionary Trip Guatemala, Snowshoeing in the pass, the Shadow Lady's Sister graduated, I went to my Second "Family 4th", a few baseball games - including one that was a tribute to Dan Wilson (and of course ,one to a Red Sox Game) a couple of trips to Mt Rainier, to Mt St Helens, and Naches Peak.  In the fall, it was Football games - including Monday Night, I got MARRIED... we had a great Thanksgiving... and we ended the year with a wind storm that knocked out power for a week... it was a BUSY year!

2006.12.17 - Windstorm Update

72 hours and counting... we don't have power yet.

Its bad here on the Island.  Trees down all over the place... damage to homes, roads, and power lines can be seen literally everywhere.  The two-pronged attack (heavy rain to soften up the ground, then 70+ mile an hour winds) knocked out power for more than 1 MILLION customers in the Puget Sound Area.  Today, the radio said that it was down to 300,000... but we're one of the unlucky ones who won't see power for a few more days yet.

Windstorm Update

2006.12.15 - The great wind storm of 2006
Accuweather called it a "Super Storm".  The Seattle Times called it "The Big Blow".  KOMO TV called it "The Great Wind Storm of 2006"... NFL TV called it a "Monsoon"... whatever name it went by, last night's storm was pretty impressive.  Hurricane force winds, stretching from Canada to California... Far larger than any storm that ever hit Florida... it it had formed in the tropics, it'd take up the entire Gulf of Mexico.

The great wind storm of 2006

2006.12.11 - Festival Of Lights Parade
The Shadow Lady took me to her home town for one of the town's major celebrations of the Christmas Season... the Annual Festival of Lights parade.  Pretty much the whole town comes out for the parade, and its no wonder... good times, and a great tradition hail the coming of the Christmas season... what a great way to spend a weekend!

Festival Of Lights Parade

2006.12.08 - Christmas Event at MICC

I went to this year's annual Christmas event armed with my camera... and made use of it.  :-)  This year's event involved not only the Celebration Choir's songs, but a theatrical review of the 'reason for the sesaon' by Curt Cloniger, who is a comedian from North Carolina; he performed segments of the events during the birth of Christ, with interesting points of view.

2006.12.08 - Frontier Restaurant
We took a lunch break, and decided to take a walk... it was a relatively nice day, and we wanted to get away from the client site a bit... we found this place in the older section of Seattle, and decided to see what the fuss was about.

Frontier Restaurant

2006.11.29 - 5-Point Cafe
Since the Monday before Thanksgiving, I've been working in downtown Seattle... finding places to eat lunch has been an adventure in itself... I ran across this little place, and really enjoyed it - so much so that I took some pictures of the place.

2006.11.29 - Snow in the lowlands???
OK... this isn't going to be a "normal" 'Currently' item... I'm going to complain a bit about the news while I'm at it...  Back in the day, when Walter Cronkite brought us the news every night on CBS, his intent, and that of the Network, was to bring us the news of the day - to let us know what happened.

Something changed, and News Services today are not in it to relay the news, but instead are in it for the money.  The more news you sell, the more money you make.  Its a sad reality; an indicator that we've lost our way a bit.

Snow in the lowlands

2006.11.25 - The Christmas Season is here!
The Season of Christmas is officially here... the 'tree' is on the Space Needle!

Seattle's Space Needle hails Christmas

2006.11.23 - Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is an opportunity for me to do some major baking and cooking!  I like to good, but don't have a whole lot of time to really fix up something 'big'.  This year, we had Thanksgiving at The Shadow Lady's Sisters' place.  Her parents, and a friend from work finished out the family and friends that were sharing the day.

I have SO much to be thankful for... I'm living a dream - a fantastic wife, a loving family, a good job, good health, great friends... I can go on and on.  I'm very blessed, and very thankful.

Thanksgiving

2006.11.21 - Wind on the Floating Bridge
On the way home, the wind was howling - gusting over 50 mph - which was whipping up the waves on Lake Washington.  On days like that, you can feel the bridge roll, reminding you that you're driving across the largest floating concrete structure in the world.

Wind on the Floating Bridge

2006.11.18 - New Office in Seattle
I had a meeting with some the folks from the company I work for now... mostly, to cover what I was going to be doing, starting on Monday, my first day on the new job.  I got there a bit early, and took a few pictures... I didn't have my camera, but my cell phone has one built in.  The view was nice enough so that they came out pretty well.

View From Seattle

2006.11.17 - Crane Collapse in Bellevue
Yesterday, a bit before 8pm, the Shadow Lady sent me a text message "Let's watch the news tonight... something happened on 108th, right next to where I work!".  Later, we saw that a tower crane failed, and toppled over.  The crane fell across the roadway, and cut through buildings surrounding the construction site.  I gave her a ride to work, so she wouldn't have to take the bus, and took some pictures as I drove off.  It was pretty incredible!

2006.11.16 - Will this be the last enjoyable sunset of the winter?
All joking aside, it rains a LOT in Seattle in the Winter.  Starting towards the end of October, the rainy season kicks in, and it pretty much rains nearly every day until around March or so.  You learn to live with it, and you also learn to really enjoy the sunsets that break up the rainy stretches.

Will this be the last enjoyable sunset of the winter?

2006.11.11 - Snow at the Pass
The Shadow Lady and I went on a drive up into Snoqualmie Pass, mostly to take a break.  We were both working on a weekend, and decided to head out to take a more definite break.  We decided that since we were already at the Falls, we'd head on up to the Family Pancake House.  Have I ever mentioned I really like that place?  :-)

Snow at the Pass

2006.11.11 - Swollen Snoqualmie
We went up to Snoqualmie Falls on our way to the Pass to see how swollen the river was from all the rain we've been having...  It wasn't as bad as it was on the news from a few days ago... but there was a lot of water cascading over the falls!  It was an awesome roar, and an impressive sight.

Swollen Snoqualmie

2006.11.09 - Another round of floods
There's been some SERIOUS flooding here in the PNW... we've had a record amount of rain for the month - almost 12 inches of rain in only one month!  Several areas have really felt the problems that come with high rain... here's some images from the various news stories in the area...

November Flooding

2006.11.09 - Last shot at the leaves
Fall comes and goes so quickly... any opportunity to enjoy the colors HAS to be taken!

A look at the Leaves

2006.11.06 - Monday Night Football

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?!?

The Shadow Lady had to work late, so my friend Les and I went to Monday Night Football at Qwest Field, for a game against the Raiders.  It had been a sunny day, but as we were heading into the stadium, and climbing "Mt Qwest" to my seats, I had this view of the clouds closing in on the Seattle Skyline.  The game wasn't one for the record books, but I had a GREAT time anyway - is there any better way to spend a Monday?

Monday Night Football

2006.11.05 - Carpe Diem
I took over "EasyWorship" operator duties for a Carpe Diem at our church.  Carpe Diem ("Sieze the day") is the name of our Sunday Evening Service.  The focus is to have a more contemporary service, so that those who aren't so comfortable with the idea of "church" will have an opportunity to worship in a non-threatening and low-pressure way.

Carpe Diem

2006.10.29 - The Shadow Lady's Business Trip
The Shadow Lady went down to "Silicone Valley" to get a weeks worth of on-site training for a system she's implementing at work.  She had a good time, and had a change to get to know the folks on her team a bit better... plus, she learned quite a bit... so the trip was pretty much all plusses.

Business Trip

2006.10.26 - Walking home with the leaves
The leaves are still changing here in my home town... I take the bus, and usually walk the rest of the way home from the bus stop... lately, I've really enjoyed the walk more than usual, because its an opportunity to see God's handiwork, with all the awesome colors.

Walking Home with the Leaves

2006.10.22 - Seahawks Vs Vikings
I went to a Seahawks game with Les on a very sunny afternoon.  The Vikings were in town, and the excitement was high...  The Seahawks lost, but it was a good game and a great afternoon anyway.

Seahawks vs Vikings

2006.10.20 - A Day in Leavenworth
The Shadow Lady and I decided to head up to the mountains, both for the scenery - the leaves are changing color - and for the break the drive would give to us.  We ended up having a better time than we'd hoped, and yeah... the scenery was awesome!!!

A day in Leavenworth

2006.10.14 & 15 - Fall is here in my home town
Well, Fall has most assuredly arrived here in my home town... The trees are losing their leaves, and the sky is finally white again more often than not.  Driving through the tree-lines streets doesn't get much enjoyable than this.

Fall is here in my home town

2006.10.05 - Harvest Moon
The Shadow Lady and I walked to a neighbor's for a ride to a meeting.  We got there a bit early, so I took a couple of pictures of this year's harvest moon.

Harvest Moon

2006.09.29-30 - Promise Keepers
I went to Spokane for PK16, a promise keeper event.  I went to last year's Promise Keepers, and really enjoyed it.  I went with Averill, my mentor and friend, from our church, who agreed to share the trip to the other half of the state with me.   It was an AWESOME 21 hours filled with worship, praise, and learning to UNLEASH the power within us.

Promise Keepers

2006.09.27 - Say Hello to Fall
If the Peanuts comic didn't give it away last Friday, the leaves surely have... too many trees are changing to blame them all on the dryness of the summer... as much as some folks would hate to admit it, Fall is upon us.

Say Hello to Fall

2006.09.25 - A foggy morning
It was a bit Foggy this morning, and that made for some scenery this morning as we started work...  The day started out sunny, but that changed pretty quickly as the cool, damp morning air made a nice show for a bit.

Foggy Morning

2006.09.23 - Seattle routs the  Giants
New York's Football Giants came to town, and entered Qwest Field after having accused the Seahawks of pumping in augmented sound.  OK, maybe it wasn't them, but we, collectively the 12th man, didn't care... we worked hard to make them pay for their insolence!  It was a GREAT game, and Les, a friend from work, and I had a GREAT time... that's what its all about!

Seahawks routs the Giants

2006.09.19 - What goes to work must come home
Riding the bus is cool. You don't have to drive.  You just sit there.  A bus comes by every 15 minutes, so if you miss one, the next one will take you.

I'm really liking the "Urbanite" thing.

What goes to work must come home

2006.09.19 - What goes to work must come home
The Shadow Lady and I went up to the Pancake House again... We decided on the way home after work to 'forage' for food, and we got to talking, and so I drove up to the Pass to one of my favorite places to eat...

Family Pancake House

2006.09.11 - Doing the Urbanite Thing
After a month or so of saying I was going to, I've finally decided to start using the bus to get to work.  The savings are outweighing the convenience of having Gar with us at work.  A tank a week adds up - and fairly quickly! .   Plus, I have to pay to park at work, which isn't really all that cheap, either.  The Shadow Lady had verified the routes, schedules, and drop points a while ago, so we just needed to get started on it... My camera is on the fritz, but I had my mobile phone with me, and took some snaps of the trip.

Doing the Urbanite Thing

2006.09.10 - Testing Out New Seats
For the past 6 years (wow... I just realized that it's been for that long!), I've had partial-season ticket to Safeco Field.  I've gotten a 16-game pack of tickets each season I've worked here in the Pacific Northwest... and each season, I've gotten tickets in the same place.  Some seasons (like this one), I get additional tickets someplace else, but the 16-game pack has always been in the same place.  The hosts at Safeco know me there by name... its nice.  But this year, its been a very sunny summer, and more times than not, it was TOO sunny for our liking (I do live in the Pacific Northwest for a reason, after all), so I've been kicking around the idea of sitting someplace else.  Since its not very crowded for most of the games, the Shadow Lady and I have been looking around the park, and I think we found the spot.

Testing Out New Seats

2006.09.03-04 - Labor Day at Kalaloch
The Shadow Lady and I went back out to Kalaloch for Labor Day weekend, which is a family tradition.  Its a great place for camping, and an excellent opportunity to relax and enjoy the last "official" weekend of Summer.

Labor Day At Kalaloch

2006.08.31 - Yep, I'm ready for some FOOTBALL!
I went to the last preseason game of the Seahawk season... The Seahawks played host to the Oakland Raiders, who at one time were in the same division as the Seahawks, and a fierce rival.  We're in the NFC now, and while the rivalry has cooled, the fans are as rowdy as ever!  The Shadow Lady had to work, so I took Les with me.  It was a work night, but that's OK... its FOOTBALL!

Yep, I'm ready for some FOOTBALL!

2006.08.30 - Angels in Safeco Field
The Shadow Lady and I went to the last game of the home stand, against the Angels. We got to the stadium early, and enjoyed the extra time chatting, catching up on work, and watching batting practice.  The game was pretty good... Lackey pitched pretty well, which bodes well for the M's last year, and the crowd wasn't too bad, once it showed up... we had a great evening, relaxing in the cool end-of-the-summer breeze until it got a bit too cool, then we went into the Terrace Club, and watched the rest game from there... in all, it was a nice evening at the Park.

Angels in Safeco Field

2006.08.27 - In The Nursery
The Shadow Lady and I did Nursery Duty at our church... she signed us up for it after being asked several times.  Depending on who talked to us... it was either the greatest incentive, or the best prevention, to have children... :-)

In The Nursery

2006.08.25 - Let's go Red Sox!!!
The Red Sox came to town, and we managed to fit in one of the games... we had to give a set  of tickets we had this for their visit away to friends of ours at church... too many things on the schedule!  We had a good time at the game - an excellent change of pace, and a great oppotunity to just enjoy the many varied benefits of the game of baseball!

Let's Go Red Sox!!!

2006.08.06-13 - Iceland Trip
We went to Iceland for our honeymoon.

We went because of your reaction to that... "ICELAND???"  Its different.  Neither one of us had been there.  Its got everything we like... and its not hot.

We had a fantastic time, and in the end, we left thinking it was a great choice!

Iceland Trip

2006.08.05 - We Did It
After a year and a half or so, The Shadow Lady and I got married.  We held the ceremony in our church, and our senior pastor presided.  A lot of friends from work and church came to the wedding, as well as my mom, and a whole bunch of her relatives... it was an awesome ceremony, and a great day!

We did it.

2006.07.23 - Beating the heat at Mt Rainier
On the hottest weekend of the Summer up until now, we decided to beat the heat by heading up to the 6000-foot level, at Mt Rainier, and check out the Paradise pavilion.

Beating the Heat at Mt Rainier

2006.07.15 - An Evening at Chinook Pass
The Shadow Lady and I went on a drive one evening up to Chinook Pass to take a hike around Naches Peak right at Sunset, for the fun of it, and to see if we could get lucky and see a nice sunset scene.  We got lucky on both fronts!

An evening at Chinook Pass

2006.07.08 - A Mt St Helens Morning
It had been a while, so one morning, when the skies seemed like they would be nice the next morning, I took a drive down to Mt St Helens, to see if I could take in a sunrise.

I left an hour later than I had wanted to because I forgot to set my alarm, but I went down anyway, and was very glad I did.

A Mt St Helens Morning

2006.07.07 - Buck Season in Bellevue
Bellevue, in order to raise money for PACE, a performance arts group, set out a "herd" of bucks around town painted by local artisans.  They were going to be on display for the Summer, then they were going to be auctioned off, to raise money.

The Shadow Lady and I decided to try to not use the map, and go "Buck Hunting" to try and find them all.

Buck Season in Bellevue

2006.07.05 - An Afternoon with the Mariners

My friend Les and I went to a Mariners game... The Angels were in town, and the M's were trying to get over .500.  It didn't happen on this day, but it was a fun time, anyway.

An afternoon with the Mariners

2006.07.04 - A Family Fourth
The Shadow Lady and I went down to Grays Harbor to spend the day with the Shadow Lady's family... and had a great day visiting with everyone and enjoying each other's company.

A Family Fourth

2006.07.01 - Snoqualmie Falls
We took a short detour on the way home from a hike to check out Snoqualmie Falls, the third highest falls in the USA - they're actually higher than the falls at  Niagara, but there's far less water going over them.

Snoqualmie Falls

2006.06.29 - Sunset at Alki
On the way home, I decided on a whim to head over to Alki to watch the sunset... I thought it was going to be a good one... I had no idea just how good it would be - it was awesome!

Sunset at Alki

2006.06.25 - A Drive to the Wynoochee Dam
I had a Sunday afternoon to myself, so I went for a drive to the Wynoochee Dam, which is something I've wanted to do for a while.  I went to check out a dam, but found a lot more to look at along the way there, which made for a very nice afternoon.

A Drive to the Wynoochee Dam

2006.06.24 - Jerry Coaches the Sluggers
Jerry, a buddy of mine at work, coaches a baseball team down in Tacoma.  He's done it for a few years now, and the team, which includes his two boys, really has come together over the years, and they play better than most their age...

Jerry Coaches the Sluggers

2006.06.17 - Out for an Ice Cream
We went for a drive, and used getting ice cream as the "Excuse"... we actually went for the scenery, and we were not disappointed.

Out For An Ice Cream

2006.06.17 - Out for Fish and Chips
We went back to Coulon Beach Park to get some fish and chips, then take a walk along the shoreline path that's at the park.  We've been there a couple of times, and its a great place to walk and talk, and enjoy the scenery...

Out for Fish and Chips

2006.06.16 - Dinner At The Pass
One of the things we both really enjoy is the views you get in the Mountains.  We also enjoy heading out for a drive to someplace, sunsets, and eating out...  so when the suggestion was made to head up to Snoqualmie Pass for dinner at The Family Pancake House up there, we both jumped at it!

Dinner At The Pass

2006.06.10 - SPU Graduation

We went to the Shadow Lady's sister's graduation ceremony, which was held in Qwest Field, home of the Seattle Seahawks.

SPU Graduation

2006.06.09 - Ivy Cutting at SPU
The Shadow Lady's sister graduates from SPU this weekend... the Ivy Cutting ceremony is part of the traditions of SPU...

2006.05.26 - I'm moving
Here's a few shots of the building my new apartment is in.  I had been living with a friend of mine at work, but he's moving his family over from England, and needs the space I was taking up... it was nice while it lasted, though!

I'm moving

2006.05.18 - Bellevue at Sunset
Driving home from dropping the Shadow Lady off after work, I was treated to a VERY nice scene...  I even managed to catch a nice on of the building I work in...

It was a nice way to end the day!

Bellevue at Sunset

2006.05.10 - A lunar rainbow... Honest!
I was heading home from dropping off the Shadow Lady, and noticed a ring around the moon.  The odd thing about the ring was that it was a rainbow... you could faintly see the colors in the ring.  It was pretty spectacular.

A lunar rainbow

2006.05.07 - Out to Alki
My friend Les and I took a drive out to Alki to kill off some time after a Sunday afternoon game.

Alki is across Elliot Bay from Seattle, and affords an excellent viewpoint for the city.  Some of the best views of the city are from there, including the one on the ridge above the point itself, over the water.

Out to Alki

2006.05.05 - A Friday Evening at Safeco Field
The Shadow Lady and I went to a game at Safeco Field.  Like we always do, we grabbed something to eat (we head to the game strait from work), and then sit down by the home dugout and eat and watch batting practice.  We catch up on our day - we don't work on the same floor anymore, so we actually have work stuff to talk about that's "new" now.

A Friday Evening at Safeco Field

2006.04.28 - Aptly named
Bellevue is a French word meaning "Beautiful View".

Its also the name of the city where I work, and on a clear day, one can clearly see why the town's founders gave it the name they did...

Aptly named

2006.04.28 - Seafood at the Ball Park
My friend Les and I went to a ball game at Safeco Field.  while we had a good time, and the Mariners won in extra innings... what we both remembered the most about the game is the seafood we had before the game... it was GOOD!

Seafood at the Ball Park

2006.04.23 - Drive to Mt Rainier
The Shadow Lady went on a business Trip, so I went to Mt Rainier to check out the snow, kill off a day, and otherwise keep myself busy... I ended up having a GREAT time!

Drive To Mt Rainier

2006.04.16 - A drive to the Coast
We went to visit with The Shadow Lady's family, and while there, we went to the coast to check out the waves for a bit.

A drive to the Coast

2006.04.08 - Dan Wilson Night at Safeco Field
We went to Dan Wilson Night.

Dan has been our trusty catcher for a surprising number of years, but all good things come to an end eventually, and Dan's run is no different.  So, befitting of a player who remained loyal to his team and the fans, we sent him off in a special ceremony.

Dan Wilson Night at Safeco Field

2006.04.02 - Burgers on the Waterfront
For the lack of  something to do, the Shadow Lady and I went to get a bite to eat on our way back from a trip to Fry's, my favorite place to shop...

Burgers on the Waterfront

2006.04.01 - Checking out the Tacoma Narrows Bridge
The Shadow Lady and I had a meeting in Gig Harbor - with the folks we went to Guatemala with - and while heading over there, we got a change to drive across the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, which let us take a gander at the construction of the new bridge... always a nice treat!

Checking out the Tacoma Narrows Bridge

2006.03.31 - Shooting up the Place
After a movie, I swung through the arcade.

I spent a fair amount of years in the Army, as everyone knows, and while I was in, I shot expert with the .45 and the 9mm hand guns that I was assigned.  I mentioned that while checking out a game that was some sort of "Police Simulator", where the shooter ran trough a course, shooting bad guys.

Shooting up the Place

2006.03.24 - Raccoon in Redmond
I live in downtown Redmond... not the place where you'd expect to see an animal you'd normally associate with a more rural area.

A Raccoon in Downtown Redmond

2006.03.04 - Snoqualmie Falls
On the way home from snow shoeing, we swung by Snoqualmie Falls, to check out the view we knew would be there.

we were not disappointed!

Snoqualmie Falls

2006.03.04 - Snowshoeing in the Pass
One of the gifts I got The Shadow Lady for Christmas was a pair of show shoes, along with a pair for me, to match.  A combination of schedules, weather, trips, and illness prevented us from heading up to the snow to use them... but this weekend, we made an extra effort, because we were using the weekend to celebrate her birthday...

Snowshoeing At The Pass

2006.03.03 - Scenes From Symetra
It was supposed to be a clearer day that we'd had in a while, so I brought a different camera to work, one that has a MUCH better zoom than the 'normal' camera to be ready, should any pictures present itself...

Scenes From Symetra

2006.02.26 - Volleyball
We went down to Tacoma Community College, to watch the Shadow Lady's friend play in a volleyball tournament.  Several volleyball clubs from around the region assemble on Sundays to play... we were looking for something to do, and she invited us to come watch her team play.

Volleyball

2006.02.24 - Snow (?) in the lowlands
It doesn't snow very much down near the Puget Sound... so when it does, its a big deal - typically the lead news story, no matter how slight it was.

This time, though, the snow was so slight that I almost didn't even take any pictures, or mention it here.  Almost!

Snow (?) in the lowlands

2006.02.19 - Evening Ferry Ride
The Shadow Lady and I took a Sunday Afternoon Ride, and ended up in Mulilteo, and took some pictures of the Lighthouse there.

While we were there, a ferry came in, and the idea hit us that it might be nice to take a short jaunt on the ferry, just for the fun of it.

Evening Ferry Ride

2006.02.18 - Jars of Clay
The Shadow Lady and I joined up with a couple of her friends (the same ones who went to the Toby Mac/DC Talk a few months ago), and went to the Jars of Clay concert.

Jars of Clay

2006.02.14 - A Valentine's to remember
I took The Shadow Lady to the Harbor Club in Bellevue for dinner as a surprise for Valentine's Day after work, and had a tremendous time....

A nice view, good food, and wonderful company... how could I not???

Valentine's Day Dinner

2006.02.11 - A quiet Birthday
The Shadow Lady's Dad, who is also named Jim (easy to remember!), had a birthday, so on the weekend, we went down to Grays Harbor, and surprised him with a cake.

Birthday Wishes

2006.01.26 - 02.06 - Trip to La Esperanza
We went to Guatemala as part of a mission trip to La Esperanza, a village sponsored by Agros International, and which our church supports as part of Agros' "Journey with a village".

I took about 1400 pictures (Nope, I'm not kidding), so there'll be additional pages coming... this is but a Preview!

Trip to La Esperanza

2006.01.22 - We did it.
We're engaged.

We knew it was heading that way almost right from the start, but it took a while for us to work out the timing...

We did it.

2006.01.15 - Monster Jam!
The Monster Trucks made their annual trek to the Tacoma Dome, and for the first time since the mid-80's, when I was stationed here in the Army, I went to watch the Metallic Carnage of Thunder.  I took the Shadow Lady, who had never been to a Monster Truck Show, and who is an AWESOME sport!.  I had a great time, and she admitted that it was more fun than she thought it would be.

Monster Jam

2006.01.13 - The Flooded Nisqually Valley
The waters of the Nisqually River have spilled out of its banks, and the valley leading into the river's delta is now a big lake...  The ducks are loving it -- there's lots more food as insects and worms are caught with no place to go, and are easy pickings...

Flooded Nisqually Valley

2006.01.07 - Prison Fellowship Ministries
I went to a meeting for Prison Fellowship with the Shadow lady and her family.  It was held in the Cedar Park Assembly of God Church, which is a "Mega Church" in the Northern Seattle Metro Area.  It was an excellent facility, with a VERY large sanctuary... There wasn't a seat left in the place.

Prison Fellowship Ministries Meeting

2006.01.07 - Pacific Science Center
We had planned to go snowshoeing, but it was raining heavily in the mountains, with a high snow level, so we decided to go to the Pacific Science Center instead.

I thought that the Dead Sea Scrolls were in the traveling exhibit, but it was some sort of "Science of Crime" display instead...

I also renewed my membership.

2006.01.01 - The flooded Wishkaw
What a difference a few hours can make!  In the morning, I noticed the the Wishkah river had dropped somewhat from the day before... but coming back through the valley after church, the scene had changed considerably!
