2005.12.15 - The Sonics face Yao

The Shadow Lady's friend (the same one that joined us at the hockey game and volley ball game) invited us to a Sonics game.  A friend of hers had some extra tickets, and we got to sit in VERY nice seats!  It was a great way to spend an evening!

The Seattle Center is all lit up for Christmas, making for an excellent scene entering Key Arena...

The teams warmed up before the game... its always fun to watch, to try to get a sense of how the game will go.

The Rockets seemed a bit haphazard, and not very focused... they started out the game that way, too.

Everyone shook hands, and the game got underway with the toss.

Yao, of course, won the jump... quite easily, in fact.

The Sonics did well for the first half of the game, holding a steady lead, and really looking sharp.

The Rockets were tough inside, but the Sonics managed to work the 3-point zone very well.

Squatch was his usual self; walking around on stilts for a break, and taking over the DJ station...

The blimp is far better decorated for the Sonics games than it is for the Thunderbirds Games... I don't think its the same one, actually -- it seemed to work much nicer.

The "Dunking Ushers" were awesome!

The game went on, with the Sonics working the outside, while Yao basically owned the inside - on both sides of the court.
Late in the third period, the Rockets started to close the 3-point opportunities down, and they closed the gap...
At the end of the game, the score was 104-98.  The Sonics are actually losing more at home than they do away, which is somewhat odd.

But, even though they lost, we had a great time!
