We (the
The Shadow Lady and I) the helped out with the Special Olympics
on Sunday Afternoon... it was a lot of fun! Of course, I had my camera, and of course, I took pictures... |

This is an M60 Patton. I was on a later version (M60A1) of these
tanks back in 1984, when I was stationed at Ft Lewis.
Ft Lewis was the last post in the US Army to have the M60A1, finally getting the improved M60A3 (the first tank in the US Arsenal to use Thermal/IR sights). |

Our section was in the "Olympic Village", where they had games and activities set up... we were helping out with the mini-golf, and the maze. | |

We were probably the biggest help on the clean up, though... it started
raining right as things ended, and quite a few people bolted... there was
a lot to pick up... It wasn't long before we found ourselves in the Lego Tent... fun stuff! I picked the balloons off the tents, and then went by and gave them to the kids waiting to get on the buses... It was a pretty big hit! |

After the clean-up, we checked out the relay race between the support
folks... the Army came up with 3 teams, and the Special Olympics came up
with a team... the "Scared Civilians", as they called themselves, placed
third, just ahead of the Combat Medics...
Afterwards, we drove around post, and I showed her where my barracks were. The motor pool we kept our tanks in is now the motorpool for one of the two Striker Brigades... |
