August 8, 2005 - Out for a walk in Bellevue
< Back to Currently

Taking a break on a Sunday afternoon a the office, we went for a walk around Bellevue to find a nice place to eat, and stretch out the legs...

Leaving the building, we were presented with a very nice view of the two buildings...

We walked by the new tower, next to the Mall... I'd seen it from Symetra, but not close up... it looks taller - especially the crane!

Its amazing how much weight that truss is holding... without even carrying anything, the lower portion of that truss is supporting TONS of material... when it picks something up, the stresses HAVE to be quite significant!

Along 8th, there's 4 tall buildings in a row, Symetra Financial Center (Left), Key Center, Bellevue City Hall (reflecting the sunlight), and another building I'm not sure of the name of.

The City Hall building is HUGE... its larger than Seattle's even.  As far as I know, it houses all of the city's offices, though, which makes it very nice.

The Downtown Park, which borders Main St, was surprisingly quite nice, and quite empty.  There was a half-mile walkway around the park, which is not complete -- donations and corporate contributions are used to build the park, and they add a section as they have money.
The view of Bellevue's growing skyline is a sharp contrast to the green and openness of the park.

In the right light, Symetra Financial Center looks almost invisible... At the low end of the park, there's a water fall, and a pool with ducks in it... it was very relaxing and very picturesque

While we were watching the reflections in the water, a wedding party took some wedding pictures there.

We left the park, and went to go eat... the parting shot from the park was very impressive... I'm sure I'll be back there with a better camera before too long!

We ate at a VERY nice Italian place on Main Street.  Dessert was awesome!

After we ate, we strolled down to the waterfront, and checked out the scene there, then walked back to Symetra Financial Center, where my truck was.

It was a great evening, and the perfect ending to make up for a day of having to work on the weekend!
