Several times a year, I try to take a trip out to Mt St Helens... its an
amazing place! I've started to bring my camera, and take more
pictures... its a personal "Zen" thing, but sometimes, I manage to see
some pretty cool stuff. Along the side of the highway, just before you get to the Castle Rock/Toutle exit, you can see a large dirt pile alongside the Toutle river... dredge spoils from the mud that clogged the river after the eruption. It was a bit cloudy in the morning when we started out, but by the time we got to the mountain, it couldn't have been sunnier! |

No matter how many times I visit the Cascade Range's youngest volcano, I'm
left in awe at the destruction, and the incredible bluntness at which it
was yielded. I'm also amazed at the recovery nature is making in the area... Its beautiful! |
