I helped out a friend of mine at work with a SIDS Auction he was
hosting... he's the president of the local chapter of the SIDS
Foundation.
I worked as a general helper, with the specific task of recording the
auction items.
It was held in Seattle's Washington Athletic Club, which is one of
the largest and oldest sports clubs in the country. I saw
leadership plaques dating back to 1935. |

The WAC gave us a set of rooms used for conferences that were quite nice,
actually... the room we used for storage, set up to be an old fashioned
"smoking room" (they don't allow smoking in it now, though), was
finished out with deck boards of the USS Colorado. |

One funny thing is that he had forgotten to tell me the dress
code... I showed up in slacks and a polo shirt... not
exactly on par with the others in attendance!
Oh, well, I had a good time, and SIDS raised a
considerable amount of money.
His daughter played a tribute on the piano... she did
VERY well, actually. |
