< Back to Currently A friend of mine at work, who has season tickets next to my
partial season seat, couldn't make the game, so he gave them to
me...
The traffic up there wasn't too bad, until I got to Tacoma,
where there was an accident, and the weather made for
interesting scenery... The Nisqually River Bridges looked quite
nice heading over them... |
Closing in on Seattle, I was presented with this impressive
scene... Seattle can be a really pretty place when the sun is
right, and the weather cooperates... |
Of course, I just HAD to take a picture of the Space Needle... |
Since I was sort of late because of traffic in Tacoma, we ate
at the Key, not the greatest food, and definitely not the
greatest price, but when you're in a pinch... besides, the
foot-long hot dogs are pretty good. When I got in the stadium
itself, the blimp was flying around... The controls for the
blimp are pretty simple... and they can drop cards down on the
crowd... the perfect advertising tool! |
To a hail of boo's, the ref's take the ice. The players soon
followed, then they announced the players, and sang to Old
Glory. |
Once the opening ceremonies were over, it was time to get on
with the game! |
The T-birds came out strong, and really tried to press the
Tips... but an mistake late in the period led to a goal, sending
them to the first break with a downer... |
During the Intermission, they brought a car out on the ice, and
gave some folks 8 seconds to score in order to win it... they
failed. |
The second period was more back and forth... and by the end of
it, it was 2-1, T-Birds... |
For the second intermission, it was "Chuck a puck" night. |
"Zamboni guy" was there, of course... The third period went
quite well... the Tips tied the game with 4 minutes left, but
both teams wanted to win, so it got pretty intense... |
Then, with only 3 seconds left in the game... the T=Birds, after
a flurry of shots, got one in... and took the lead. It was
Awesome!
A final face-off, and the game was over... the T=-Birds beat
their new rivals to the north, and stepped closer to a post
season chance - its still a long shot, though. |
Of course, the Space Needle looked fantastic while leaving... the full moon was out, and Jupiter, as close as it
will get this year to Earth (400 million miles), shone brightly
as well... |
Just before heading out, I played around with the shutter a bit,
and left it open longer than I normally would... the effect,
even with the Needle a bit washed out, was pretty dramatic! |
