Events of 2004
Here's the basic rundown of the year that was 2004...

I continued the "Teaser" format I started last summer... it seemed to work great, and its how the picture pages used to be sorted, so its (hopefully) familiar.

2004.11.20 - Back to "The Mountain"
At the risk of being called a crackpot, I went back to Mt St Helens for another sunrise, and the opportunity to catch a view of some steam and ash...

Back to St Helens

2004.11.17 - Scenes from Symetra
Sometimes, the view from where I work make taking a break more than worthwhile!

2004.11.06 - Back to The Mountain
I trusted the weatherman one more time, and took a drive out to Mt St Helens... THIS TIME WITH AWESOME RESULTS!

Back (again)

2004.11.05- Driving Home
Sometimes, the scenery outweighs the stress of the long drive...

Driving Home

2004.11.02 - Our Civic Duty
Every 4 years, the greatest democracy on Earth exercises the process it invented -- the selection of a country's leaders by its citizens.

Voting Day!

2004.10.30 - Morning Run to The Mountain
I got skunked out of a view of the crater last time I went to The Mountain... so, early in the morning, I braved the early morning fog, and trekked back out there to see it again.

Back to the Mountain

2004.10.27 - Total Eclipse of the Moon
It won't happen again for 70 years... and I was lucky enough to have a clear night in October!!!

Total Eclipse of the Moon

2004.10.24 - Drive to St Helens
I took a drive up to "The Mountain", to see what there was to see.  Unfortunately, Mother Nature didn't cooperate with our efforts.

2004.10.08 - Out for a walk
I went for a short walk along the Olympia waterfront, and saw things you'd only see in the Pacific Northwest...

Nature in Olympia

2004.09.25 - Fog in Olympia
Two things about fall that you can count on... RAIN is the big one, of course... The other thing is FOG.  We've been having our fair share of it, that's for sure!

Fog in Olympia

2004.09.11 - Mariners vs Red Sox
The Red Sox came to town, and I managed to make it to one of the games.  The Red Sox won, quite easily, actually.

2004.09.05 - A Walk along the Deschutes
I got a Sunny day, which is becoming a bit rare nowadays, so I took advantage, and took a walk along the Deschutes River, near the Tumwater Brewery.

2004.08.21 - Wonderful Rain...
Everyone knows I like it to be rainy rather than hot and sunny... but I think that this time, when the rain came, EVERYONE was a bit relieved... I Needed it! The really cool thing is that it looks like it'll be here for a while...

The Rains Return

2004.08.20 - Brush Fire!
We've had a run of dry weather, and the area is VERY dry.  A fire broke out on I-5, near Hawks Prairie... right smack in the middle of my commute.

2004.08.11 - Out on a clear night
Everyone looks up at night... on this day, I tried to capture some of that with my camera...

One Clear Night

2004.08.08 - Flaming Geyser State Park
There are state parks, then there are state parks... a Park with the name of "Flaming Geyser", as you can imagine, pretty much guarantees a visit!

A visit to Flaming Geyser

2004.07.31 - A trip to Chinook Pass
It was a really sunny, warm weekend, so I took advantage of the clear blue to get up closer to it... I went to Chinook Pass, and went on a day hike.  The pass is at about 5300 feet or so, and I hiked up about another 1400 feet... the views from 'up there' are awesome!

A trip to Chinook Pass, near Mt Rainier

2004.07.25 - A trip to St Helens
I always enjoy visiting the mountain that blew itself into the lime light some 24 years ago... no matter how many times I see it, it looks different, and I am awash in the incredible beauty that the area greets you with.

Mt St Helens

2004.07.18 - Capital Lake Fair 2004
Olympia's Annual Capital Lake Fair was one of the better one's that the city has thrown in a while.  Small shops, outdoor music festival, lots of food, rides, and fireworks... its a great festival!

I've been getting lucky on the way to work... I don't like the heat we've been having lately, but the sunrises sure have been nice!

Here's some from the last few days...

Awesome Sunrises

2004.05.22 - Third Day comes to Everett

Third day is one of the few groups where you can say the music is every bit as fantastic as the words...

They came to the Everett Center, and I managed to get to go... it was a GREAT weekend!

Third Day Concert

2004.05.07 - A rainy drive home... along with a reward
It was raining like the dickens, and it wasn't a fun drive home with all the snarled traffic, but in the middle of it all, I was treated to a nice view, so it sort of was worth it.

Rainy Drive Home

2004.02.04 - Watching the Jellies
I had a few minutes, so I did the "Zen" thing and slowed down a bit to watch jellyfish swim along the Olympia Waterfront.

You can't get much more peaceful than that...

Watching the Jellies

2004.01.30 - Pile-up on I-5
Talk about a rush!  A "Sunburst" happened (a patch of blue sky, where the big yellow thing can shine through), and shortly afterwards 60 cars, 8 semis, 3 busses, and a few military vehicles crashed into each other -- all around me!

I managed to get through it without a scratch... and, of course, I had my camera...  I was driving through it, and some of them are through my windshield, but some come came out OK.

Pile-up on I-5

2004.01.06 - A good amount of snow
For the fourth time since Christmas, we're getting snow... this time, though, its quite a bit.   I ended up with about a foot or so... Respectable, even for the New Englanders in my family!

A good amount of snow

2004.01.04 - Snow in the Lowlands... Again

Global warming?  Not this year!  I got another round of snow... this time, though, it wasn't as expected...

Snow - again!

2004.01.01 - Snow in the Lowlands

It RARELY snows down near sea level in Western Washington, but the cold trend that ended the year in 2003 started off the year in 2004 with more white stuff...
