Events of 2001...
2001 holds some pretty big memories... the Nisqually Quake, hiring on at Safeco, and blowing out my knee in Kalona, BC.

2001.12 - The last day of the first year of the century

Here's a shot of the last Sunset of 2001.  It was taken during "Maine Trip 6", the 6th trip I took back to Maine in 2001.

2001.11 - I blew out my knee

While in Kalona, Canada, to watch a hockey game between the Rockets and the Seattle Thunderbirds, we had an extra day, and it was the first day of the season at "Big White", a ski resort nearby, so I went skiing.

On the last run, within 100 yards of the bottom of the hill where we were going to take off the skis and walk to the lodge and turn them in, I hit a rock, got twisted up, and on the way to the ground, I tore up my knee.  I tore the ACL, damaged the PCL, and tore the MCL... yes, it hurt, and as you can see, it ballooned up pretty good

2001.10 - Maine Trip 4
I went back home to Maine for a visit, so that I could be home close to my sister's birthday...

Fall Color in New England... as the plane was landing in Manchester, New Hampshire, I was treated to a preview!

A monument to Ft Mary, which was a fort built for the French and Indian Wars in the early 1700's.  The light tower, lit in times of peril, is all that remains of the fort

Wood Island Light, in the Mouth of the Columbia

Nubble Light

Its one of the nicer lighthouses, I think

ONLY in New England!

Even in dull, gray, weather...

The Old Man on the Mountain... NICE

2001.09 - I got hired!

My "Road Dog" days are over... my Contract was up in December, and instead of another extension, they opted to simply hire me outright. I'm now a Senior Systems Analyst in Safeco's Sales & Marketing Systems (S&M Systems - our logo is a whip! yes, I'm kidding)  department, which is one level higher than Distribution Automation, the department I was in... But, I'm being "sliced" to Dist Auto, so nothing really changes, except who I reports to, and who cuts my check.

2001.08 - Season Tickets for 2001

No, I'm not going to give up any loyalty to the Patriots!

During the first pre-season game against the Indianapolis Colts, there was a commercial for season tickets, and it seemed like a deal I couldn't pass up..

so now, I'm a Seahawks fan... They're still in Husky Stadium this year, but with these tickets I can get first dibs at tickets in the new stadium...

The view I'm supposed to have seems OK... I think I'm a little higher than this, though... Section 2, row QQ, Seats 11 & 12.

2001.08 - Extended again

I got extended again... this time until the end of the year... December 2001 is my new "End Date"...

I'm not sure what will happen after that... but there could be a New England Job in my future...

2001.07 - The Andersons Visit.

Here's me with Ron Anderson and his wife.  He's the minister at Des Moines church of Christ, and he was speaking up in Bellingham, so I went up there to see him.

2001.07 - Visited home

I went back to Maine for a visit! What a blast THAT was!

2001.05 - Wedding
I went to Missouri to go to my friend Ed's daughter's wedding... it was good seeing Ed again, and of course, the wedding was nice, too!

2001.02 - Earthquake

The earthquake measured in at 6.7, but it was 30 miles deep, so even over the epicenter, there wasn't too much damage. We got rocked pretty good, but I was in a quake-proof building, so I weren't in much danger. It was pretty impressive though...

The graphic is of a "webicorder", which is available on the internet as part of the Pacific Northwest Seismograph network. As time passes, the automated recorder changes color as it hits a new row.. when the quake struck, it started in the red band... you'll notice that there was no build-up.. immediately, the recorder "maxed out"... and, the quake lasted for quite some time! To me, it felt as if the ground shook for about 45 seconds... but the building swayed for another 2-3 minutes.
